We regret to inform you that Elmer Hausermann passed away on April 21, 1999. Elmer was the founder and chairman of the board of the Hausermann companies. Elmer's wife and partner, Althea, passed away almost a year earlier in May of 1998. With all their friends and colleagues, we share this loss and thank you for your condolences.
Elmer's career included teaching elementary school and working in the family orchid business. In 1955 he established Hausermann Die & Machine Company and was one of the early pioneers in EDMing. It was his need for graphite electrodes that led him to invent the abrading process, a process that is synonymous with his name. After refining the process, he formed Hausermann Abrading Process Company to build and sell abrading machines and Hausermann Controls Company to develop CNC controls for EDMs. However, Elmer will be best remembered for his faith in God and his devotion to his family. The businesses will continue with his son, Marty, remaining as President, a position he has held since 1982.
